Mothers on the Loose

Each Mother’s Day the girls in my family plan a day out.  It is a great way to celebrate motherhood, sisterhood, cousinhood (I’m sure that’s not a word, but you get the gist) and just have fun!  Some guys may think this is pretty selfish of us but our guys seem to be happy to send us on our merry way.  In fact sometimes they get together on Mother’s Day and do their own thing.  Some of our previous adventures have included lunch on a train, shopping in towns we don’t usually frequent, tours of the Newport Mansions, sight seeing in Salem, MA home of the witch trials, a visit to Lizzie Borden’s home and we always have at least one meal whether it be brunch, lunch or dinner.  Yes, some places are not typical to celebrate Mothers’s Day, but they are unique and interesting to us.  I suggest you gather your family around, brainstorm some ideas and make a plan to try something new!

This year’s plans are underway to spend a night at Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut.  We booked a couple hotels rooms today.  Now to Google the area and see what we can get ourselves into!  I hope you take a cue from us and do the same!

Welcome to My World

wine tastingHello

My slice of the world includes me and my 17 year old son.  My son will graduate high school and start college this year.  I have a full time job as a Childcare Director at a YMCA and I have a part time job as an Herbalife Independent Distributor.  My family is my number one priority.  I turned 50 last year and have chosen to look on the bright side of life.  I am also close with my parents, my 2 sisters and their families.  I am trying to live as healthy as possible and I am always on the lookout for something fun to do.

My most recent “fun” activity was a wine tasting with my 2 sisters, Amy and Pam, and my niece Brielle.  We saw a sign for a Grand Wine Tasting at Yankee Spirits in South Attleboro, MA a couple weeks ago and made a plan to go.  If your local liquor store has one, I highly recommend checking it out!  We traveled up and down several isles, sampling well over 30 kinds of wine.  It was a great way to find new wines.  I came home with 5 new bottles!  A couple are set aside for “spa day”, more to come on that in future posts.  After the wine tasting we went for dinner at Sakura’s hibachi restaurant.  We definitely needed food after all that wine!  If you have never experienced dinner at a hibachi restaurant, you are missing out.My awesome niece even picked up the bill for us as as thank you for all we have done for her.  I have the best family!  I can’t wait to share more stories with you.
